From Trident to Tomorrow: The Heartbeat of ΙΑΣΩΝ

In March 2017, I shared The Trident 🔱 Trilogy, my final commercial dance music mixes as DJ Jason Brain, born from a broken heart after a trip to Cuba. That moment marked a turning point, where I embraced my alias ΙΑΣΩΝ—Greek for Jason, tied to Saint Jason—and dove into the underground world of Psytrance, techno, and melodic house. Eight years later, I’m still creating from the heart, with a story rooted in my hometown of Port Perry and Blackstock, thriving in Durham Region, and now blooming in Haliburton.

As ΙΑΣΩΝ, I’ve produced tracks and remixes, including two soulful melodic house DJ mixes, and I’m thrilled to announce a Progressive Psytrance song dropping soon—a new wave of heart-centric music. My journey began in Durham Region, where I built my legend as a DJ, rocking The Ultimate Summer Bash in Port Perry for three years running as the official DJ, filling the air with energy and nostalgia. Though the event didn’t happen this year, those nights under the stars remain unforgettable.

Since moving north, Durham Region has kept calling me back for bookings, but I’ve also found a new home in Haliburton. This season, I started taking wedding bookings here, celebrating love with couples under twinkling lights and event tents, even through the challenges of the COVID pandemic. I’m especially proud to have been the Haliburton High School Prom DJ for the past three years, bringing joy to students as they mark their milestones. With one wedding booking in two weeks and an open calendar beyond, I’m ready for whatever comes next.

As ΙΑΣΩΝ, I’ve also dipped into the rave scene, providing projection mapping as video support for international DJs. Sharing the stage, blending visuals with beats, has been a thrilling evolution, pushing my creativity into new dimensions. Yet, as Jason Brain, I stay grounded, DJing weddings in Haliburton and taking bookings in Durham Region, where my legend lives on.

If the music of ΙΑΣΩΝ takes me to new places, I’ll travel light, letting the beats guide me without the weight of a full sound setup. For now, I’m staying the course in Haliburton, creating and celebrating love through music. The Trident 🔱 was a spark, and the fire still burns. Join me for my upcoming Progressive Psytrance release and let’s keep the rhythm alive. Download, dance, and resonate together. 🌊❤️

Creating a 2025 R3tarded Valerie Remix Remix: A Tribute to Eric Prydz and Steve Winwood

Hey everyone, it’s Jason (ΙΑΣΩΝ) here, and I’m sharing the journey behind my latest project—a 9-minute remix/mashup of Valerie by Eric Prydz and Steve Winwood. You can check it out here. This track is a labor of love, blending the iconic sounds of both artists into something fresh, vibrant, and true to their original essence. As someone who lives for dance, Zumba, and high-energy workout tracks (123 bpm, anyone?), this remix is my way of overflowing joy through music, as I always aim to do.

The Vision

Inspired by the vibrant energy of Eric Prydz’s original and the soulful depth of Steve Winwood’s Valerie, I wanted to create a remix that bridges their worlds. At 123 bpm and in the key of A—perfect for Zumba or a high-energy workout—this track is my way of reflecting joy and sharing it with you, as I often say: “Fill yourself with joy and overflow to others.”

The Creation Process

This remix was a deep dive into sound design and layering:

  • Source Material: I worked with Prydz’s iconic Call On Me and Winwood’s original Valerie, pulling elements from both to build a cohesive mix.

  • Acapella Extraction: Using my tools, I isolated Winwood’s vocals, placing them strategically to complement the beat.

  • Synth Work: I reimagined the Valerie synths, blending them with Prydz’s style for a fresh yet respectful tribute.

  • Structure: The 9-minute runtime allowed me to craft a dynamic flow, ensuring every lyric and beat lands perfectly.

Why This Remix?

This isn’t just a remix—it’s a celebration of music’s ability to connect. The retro vibes of the album art (inspired by the original Call On Me aesthetic) tie into the nostalgic yet forward-looking sound. Whether you’re dancing in Haliburton, ON, or anywhere else, I hope this track gets you moving!

Get Involved

Listen above, share your thoughts, and let’s keep the vibe going. Hit me up if you’re local, and let’s dance it out!

Cheers,
Jason (ΙΑΣΩΝ)
